Woolworths has increased its lead as Australia’s top grocery retailer, taking its share of the total grocery market to 34% last year, up 1.4 percentage points on a year earlier, according to market research company Roy Morgan’s Supermarket & Fresh Food Currency Report.
Coles now has a 27.6% market share after dropping 1.6 points last year, ALDI has 11.4% (up 0.5 points), and IGA has 7.1%, down 0.4 points.
Other supermarkets outside the top four collectively increased their share to 9.1%, up 1.2.
