New Zealand Food & Grocery 2024 Annual Conference begins

The New Zealand Food & Grocery Council’s 2024 Annual Conference commences today, taking place from November 11-13 in Wellington, New Zealand.

“Our annual conference is our biggest FMCG event of the year, we’re gearing up for what’s shaping up to be a jammed pack few days,” says Raewyn Bleakley, Chief Executive of the New Zealand Food & Grocery Council.

“With over 200 delegates heading to the capital city, we are looking to showcase the very best of Wellington, from our welcome reception hosted at Parliament to our conference venue at New Zealand’s newest convention centre Tākina, and dinner in the heart of Te Papa.

“Our 2024 Conference continues with our Shared Horizons theme, which aligns with our vision for a thriving food and grocery industry. From tackling sustainability throughout the supply chain to backing healthier outcomes to deliver better nutrition and wellness, from championing top-tier talent to enabling supplier excellence, our Annual Conference brings the industry together to reflect on the significant year that’s been, the first under the new Grocery Supply Code, and look towards the horizon of the year ahead.”

The conference features a diverse lineup of speakers, including industry leaders, policymakers, and experts, who will share their insights on critical issues such as sustainable development, technological innovation, and grocery regulation.

Keynote speakers include rugby legend Tana Umaga, Argon’s New Zealand Partners Ian Walsh and Chris Foord, Sarah Salmond from Minter Ellison Rudd Watts, as well as Government Ministers, Leadership from Foodstuffs and Woolworths NZ, Food Waste Champions Professor Dame Juliet Gerrard and Kaitlin Dawson, and closing with the remarkable Paula Bennett.

As part of the conference, NZFGC is launching the second season of our Shared Horizons series in partnership with ASN Media, a short docuseries highlighting incredible supplier stories, with the premiere at the welcome function on Monday night at Parliament. ‘Shared Horizons’ will once again explore the key issues facing the food and grocery industry in Aotearoa New Zealand, showcasing the latest innovations and best practices from across the sector. The docuseries explores the depth, diversity, and ingenuity of the Aotearoa New Zealand food and grocery sector while considering the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead for the industry.

“Building on the success of our first Shared Horizons docuseries, the second season furthers the objective to capture insights from our Kiwi industry leaders, sharing their knowledge and expertise, as well as being an opportunity to highlight inspirational success stories – showing us the journey of how number eight wire evolves to lead industry innovation,” says Raewyn Bleakley, Chief Executive of the New Zealand Food & Grocery Council.

Jonathan Love, Director of ASN Media, added: “We are delighted to continue our collaboration with the NZFGC for the second season of ‘Shared Horizons.’ The food and grocery industry is constantly evolving, and this series provides an excellent opportunity to showcase the sector’s resilience, creativity, and commitment to sustainability and excellence. We are excited to bring more compelling stories to the forefront and foster meaningful discussions on the key issues facing the industry.”
