Speaker Announcement
We are delighted to announce two keynote speakers for the event:
- Hon Dr Duncan Webb, the new Minister of Commerce and Consumer Affairs
- Dr Ellen Joan Nelson, ex-army academic business mum, with deep expertise and practical experience in leadership, gender, well-being and the future of work.
Speakers covering the economy, supply chain challenges, sustainability and circular economies will be announced shortly.
Dr Duncan Webb
Dr Webb has picked up responsibility from Hon David Clark for the Grocery Industry Competition Bill, which introduces the grocery code of conduct and the Grocery Commissioner. He has served as the MP for Christchurch Central since being elected in 2017. He is also Minister for State Owned Enterprises. Before entering Parliament, he was a professor at the University of Canterbury, and was published widely, including in banking, finance, and insurance law. He was later a partner at law firm Lane Neave, where he advised financiers and others, as well as acting for many homeowners in Canterbury earthquake claims.
Dr Ellen Joan Nelson
Dr Nelson will share her experiences as a military leader, academic and leadership researcher, gender advisor to the NZ military, businesswoman, volunteer and mum, plus her significant involvement in the Food & Fibre sector leadership development project with Rural leaders. Her volunteer team, which included Chris Parsons and Martin Dransfield, famously spent 10 months evacuating 563 people, including her former Afghan team members, from Afghanistan to New Zealand in 2021 after the country fell to the Taliban. Expect to come away with a fresh perspective, and interesting case study for how to improve business outcomes such as staff retention, engagement, productivity and performance.
We look forward to seeing you there!
